1st Meeting of Mercosul Information Science Academic Journals

On April 24, 2023, the Faculty of Information and Communication (FIC) of the University of the Republic (UdelaR) hosted the 1st Meeting of Academic Journals of Information Science of Mercosul. This event, of significant importance, was an initiative of the dedicated editorial team of the Informatio magazine (FIC-UdelaR) and was held within the scope of the XIII Meeting of Directors and XII of Teachers of Library and Information Science Schools of Mercosul.
The meeting was attended by 37 professionals from different countries, 27 of whom were physically present at FIC's facilities and 10 connected remotely via the Zoom platform. The significant turnout for the event highlights the enthusiasm and pressing need to discuss and align policies, criteria and editorial practices that boost the development of academic journals specializing in Library Science and Information Science (BCI) in the Mercosur region.
The 1st Mercosul Information Science Academic Journals Meeting emphasized not only the relevance of collaboration and exchange of ideas between editors and researchers, but also established the foundations for building an efficient and cohesive network of academic publications. This pioneering event strengthened the scientific community's ongoing commitment to promoting editorial excellence and disseminating knowledge in an equitable and accessible manner.
